The annual Bluebonnet party was held in the library on Friday, January 18th.  Students from the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades who read, tested and passed 5 of the books on the 2007-2008 Bluebonnet list were invited to attend.  Charlotte Henley, from the Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin entertained and educated the students with a variety of unusual animals from the zoo.  After 195 votes were cast the winner of the Bluebonnet books for our school was Down Girl and Sit, On the Road, the funny story of two dogs that get into some trouble and drive their owner’s car.  Each year the school awards those students who read, test and pass all twenty of the bluebonnet books with a prize.  This year the winners are 6th graders, Elizabeth West and Staceson Myles.  This is Elizabeth’s 4th year in a row to win 1st place.  After the votes are sent in to the Texas Library Association, they are combined with the other votes from around the state.  The state winner will be announced in February.
