Plan next summer, eg. You are considering medical profession - there are camps for juniors, that are designed to introduce students to that career.

Consider your skills and interests. These may lead to a career, eg. The Kuder profiles - take that interest survey.
-
What are your activities, besides school, Scouts, volunteer at your church, rodeo? Why? To include on your resume, portfolio.

Be aware of possible resources, eg. library, internet, teachers, staff, community leaders, and your church. For example: website - www.woodburnpress.com has great resources for you and your family. ON that website, look under booklet preparing for college parent excerpts. Year by year - 9th grade - Page 17.
