Shanequa Redd-Dorsey, AHS Principal

Shanequa Redd-Dorsey, Principal of Alto High School, has been selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) as a Region 7 Outstanding Principal of the Year. TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the twenty Education Service Center regions across the state. School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions based on exemplary performance and outstanding leadership.

Mrs. Redd-Dorsey, a 7-year principal, has led Alto High School since 2018. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Wiley University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from LeTourneau University, and obtained her Superintendent's Certification from the University of Texas at Tyler. Mrs. Redd-Dorsey has received several accomplishments, including receiving the Texas Council of Women School Executives Bravo Award and joining the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals Board of Directors.

Mrs. Redd-Dorsey sees herself as a servant leader, a risk taker, a visionary, and a leader of learners. Under her leadership, Alto High School has accomplished many achievements, including significant increases in College, Career, and Military Readiness and recognition as a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase school for its strong school culture and climate. In addition, the campus has experienced notable student growth in academic achievement on both local and state assessments, reflecting her commitment to instructional excellence and student success.

“Mrs. Dorsey elevates all of Alto High School,” Alto ISD Superintendent Derrick Conley shared. “With true professionalism, a genuine care for our young scholars, and a steady connection to every stakeholder, we are all hopeful and excited about the next level of our collaborative growth; and we are proud in congratulating her on earning this prestigious and well deserved award”.

As a Region 7 winner, she is now eligible to compete for the state title of Texas Principal of the Year. Each of the region winners will be recognized during the Jostens Night of the Stars Awards Dinner, held in conjunction with the TASSP Summer Workshop each June. They will each be presented with an award and featured in the commemorative Summer Workshop yearbook.

Congratulations again to Mrs. Dorsey for being selected as a Regional Outstanding Principal of the Year!
