๐ข Parents! Red Ribbon Week isnโt just about dressing up and theme days, itโs a chance for you to talk to your kids about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. Believe it or not, YOU have a significant influence in your childrenโs decision to use alcohol and other drugs. It may not seem like it, but students DO listen ๐ when their parents talk about underage drinking and substance use.
The Drug-Free Council program is funded by a grant from TxDOT to reduce the number of alcohol-related crashes in Texas. #TalkTheyHearYou

Bilingualism is a superpower! Today Mrs. Dees took a brave step out of her comfort zone to present about Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Practices at the 53rd TABE conference for bilingual education in Allen, Texas. Advocating for our bilingual students is one of the many superpowers Mrs. Dees brings to our district!

โ ๏ธ Schedule Update: Due to the threat of inclement weather, kickoff for Friday nightโs game vs. Overton has been moved up to 6:30 p.m. Please spread the word! Go Jackets! ๐๐ค

Hereโs this weekโs AMS Weekly Schedule from Mr. Childs! Stay up to date on all thatโs happening at Alto Middle School this week. ๐๐ค

๐งโโ๏ธ Zombie Survival in RLA! ๐ง โ๏ธ
It was no ordinary day in Mrs. Parkerโs RLA class! Students walked in to find a skeleton waiting for themโand a warning that zombies were nearby! ๐งโโ๏ธ
Each student received a color-coded card that determined their base, role, resources, and special advantages or disadvantage. After teaming up, groups created survival maps complete with legends and detailed written plans for how to outlast the zombie invasion.
The fun activity had a serious purpose: students demonstrated their understanding of sentence fluency by crafting clear, varied sentences in their survival plans. Great work, Mrs. Parkerโs classโway to make learning come alive! ๐๐

Red Ribbon Week is Almost Here!

Congrats to the most recent โGold Standardโ students at AMS, Kevin and Matthew! ๐๐
Matthew comes to school with a great attitude and is ready to learn. His teacher is very proud of his effort and enthusiasm.
Kevin was chosen for helping keep the school clean and organized, often picking up after his classmates without being asked. His initiative and pride in his school set a great example for others to follow.
