I would like to share a few highlights of "Hard Work and Respect" from this week with you:
1. Alto Middle Boys 8th grade Track wins the Troup Shuttlesworth Relays, and our Girls won the 4X100 relay!!🏆
2. Alto Girls Varsity Track Runner up at Troup Relays, and Varsity Boys 4X200 relay ran a 1:30.7 for our fastest time in the last three years!!🏅🏃
2. Enrollment stays up at 519 students. Attendance overall was 94% for the week. ☑️
3. Alto Softball wins two games against New Summerfield by a combined score of 49-0!!🥎
4. Alto Baseball beats New Summerfield twice by a total of 33-3!!⚾️
5. Alto High School and Coach Sudds with a great academic showing at the UIL district meet!! 📚
6. Alto ISD students with an incredible performance at our Cherokee County Junior Livestock Show. Jason Davis and Ag Mech Team with 12 blue ribbons including Rylan Hicks as Grand Champion, and Laine Carpenter's students and animals with Reserve Champion in Makenzie Low and Brylee Glover and Grand Champion in Macee Low. 💪
7. Angelina Lindsey and Emily Weatherford both received $1,000 from CCJLS!!🏆

This morning at the Cherokee County Junior Livestock Show, Alto students represented our community well in the Market Goat show!

Angelina also exhibited her pen of heifers, a project that requires months of dedication and meticulous record keeping. She earned 9th place — way to go!

Alto Elementary School will host Spring Pictures next Wednesday, April 1st. Students will be photographed with a cute spring-themed background! 🌞🌷🐇

It’s a busy evening for Alto families with baseball, softball, and volleyball games — so let the AHS staff take care of dinner!
Each meal includes a pulled pork sandwich, chips, and a cookie. And with Mr. Melvin Mumphrey preparing the pulled pork, you already know it’s going to be delicious. We hope to see you there!
At last night’s Meet the Band Directors event, the community had the opportunity to hear from Mr. Xavier Broughton and Mr. Caesar Lopez as they shared their vision and excitement for the band program. Senior band members and dedicated volunteers were also recognized for their contributions and commitment. Guests enjoyed a wonderful meal and great fellowship throughout the evening.

Emily and Anabel generously volunteered their time — and their goats — this morning to help with the Exceptional Kids Livestock Show. This special event gives students the opportunity to experience the joy of caring for and exhibiting an animal in a supportive and encouraging environment. We are proud of these young ladies for sharing their hearts and their passion for agriculture to make the day meaningful for others!
Several Alto ISD students represented our school and community well on Day 2 of the Cherokee County Junior Livestock Show as they exhibited broiler and breeder poultry. The goal of broiler production is to raise big, healthy birds with a focus on meat production, and these students demonstrated the hard work, responsibility, and daily care required to be successful!
Eli M. earned 8th place and a sale slot, while Alice M. earned 10th place and a sale slot. In showmanship competition, James C. was named Grand Champion Junior Showmanship, and Alice M. also earned 4th place Junior Showmanship honors. Jaiden T. and Cohen J. also did an outstanding job showing their broilers and representing Alto ISD.
In the Breeder Poultry show, Cohen earned 1st place cockerel, 2nd place rooster, Reserve Champion rooster, 5th place pullet, and 3rd place Junior showmanship. Wow!

Our hearts are heavy as we lift up AHS Principal Shanequa Redd-Dorsey and her family during this unimaginable time following the tragic loss of her son, Keion.
There are no words that can ease this kind of grief, but we want the Redd-Dorsey family to know they are surrounded by a community that loves them. Please join us in keeping them in your thoughts and prayers in the days and weeks ahead.
