Industry-based certifications represent industry valued skills that lead to employment and act as a springboard for higher levels of achievement to ensure students’ independence and success in life beyond high school.

The TCFA Feedyard Technician Program is a program led by Texas Cattle Feeders Association in cooperation with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service that provides high school juniors and seniors the knowledge and skills needed to prepare them for a potential career in the cattle industry. The Feedyard Tech in Cattle Care and Handling testing components include a written test, six skills tests (including administering injections and operating heavy equipment), and a formal interview with industry representatives.

Alto ISD is proud to recognize our newest TCFA Feedyard Technicians, Angelina, Michelle, Lizbeth, Betsy, Brylee, Jakiya, and Brianna (not pictured). Thank you to Mrs. Laine Carpenter for preparing these students!

Alto ISD will have school tomorrow. All buildings have been thoroughly cleared by law enforcement and are safe for students and staff. Students who were still testing at the time of the evacuation will resume testing tomorrow. We are incredibly proud of our staff and students for responding calmly and exactly as they were trained. We are grateful to all responding law enforcement agencies and our evacuation sites for their swift response, care, and support. Alto, Texas is a special place, and we are blessed to be part of this community.

update from Alto ISD
Apologies for the delayed post! At each board meeting, we take time to honor one outstanding student from each campus, and a student group leads the pledges.

At the March meeting, we had a full house as our recognized students—Chase S., Cohen J. , and Makenzie L.—were joined by their proud families, along with members of Alto FFA who led the pledges. Chase, a Pre-K student, stole the show with an impromptu speech!

Coach Castillo’s 7th grade Texas History classes brought history to life while learning about the cattle industry of the 1880s! 🤠

Students explored what life was really like on the open range—studying the famous cattle trails such as the Chisholm, Western, Goodnight-Loving, and Shawnee trails. They also learned about the daily routines of cowboys, the sights they would have seen along the way, and the challenges they faced on the trail.

In addition, students researched different cattle breeds and the advantages each brought to the long cattle drives. They wrapped up the unit by trying their hand at roping! A special thank you to Landon Cook for allowing students to use his roping dummy to enhance this experience!

🎮 Gaming addiction and substance use activate the same brain reward system. Teens who struggle with one are more vulnerable to the other.

🧠 Gaming primes the brain for addiction — dopamine plays the same role in gaming, gambling, and substance use.
📊 Research shows boys are nearly 3x more likely to develop a gaming addiction, often alongside depression, anxiety, and academic struggles.

💬 When parents understand this connection, they can set healthy boundaries and support the emotional needs behind these behaviors.

Coach Soto was selected as AHS Teacher of the Month by his colleagues! They describe him as a “team player” who goes above and beyond for students, staff, and campus programs. Coach Soto builds strong relationships and pushes students to reach their full potential. He also holds his athletes accountable and emphasizes that “grades matter!”

We also congratulate our AHS Students of the Month—Saul, Victoria, Laila, and Alanys! These students are exemplary Yellowjackets who represent the very best of AHS. 💛🖤

Hospice in the Pines is honored to once again host the 2026 Lizzie Wallace Memorial Children's Grief Camp beginning June 8th thru June 11th. Our goal is to help children recognize their feelings due to the death of a loved one by providing them with skills necessary for healthy coping, and allow them to connect with other children who are also experiencing grief. Through this camp experience, we desire to have fun, reduce stress, and restore hope.

Participants will be supported and supervised by trained staff members as well as volunteers of Hospice in the Pines, including first aid support to provide care if the need arises. The camp is free of charge, and snacks and lunch will be provided. Please see the flyer for contact and registration information.
