The best prevention doesn’t start with lectures — it starts with listening 👂💬
When teens feel safe and not judged, they open up more.
Try curious questions like:
🔹 “Help me understand what’s working for you about this.”
This helps uncover the real reasons behind risky choices — stress, fitting in, or identity — and guide teens toward healthier options 💛
Teens who hear about drug risks from parents are up to 50% less likely to use 🚫
Build strong communication and grab your Prevention Playbook at angelinacoalition.org/resources.

Middle School students celebrated their perfect attendance yesterday with a well-earned reward this afternoon— an AttenDANCE! 💃🕺

Our AES Students of the Week are Ava, Everlee, Jayla, Dior, Marely, and Jurgen! 🌟 These outstanding students consistently demonstrate what it means to be trustworthy, hardworking, and responsible. They come to school ready to learn, give their best effort, and set a positive example for their classmates.
Our Staff Member of the Month is Ms. Val Pope! Ms. Val is the true definition of a team player. She steps up wherever she’s needed, does whatever is asked of her, and never complains. Her positive attitude makes a huge difference at Alto Elementary!

Our first graders put on their scientist hats as they made predictions about whether candy hearts would sink or float in different liquids! 🧪🍬 After testing their hypotheses, they carefully recorded their observations.
What a sweet and engaging way to introduce the scientific method!

Most of the time, Mr. Conley is the one making the good news phone calls… but today, the tables were turned!
A 4th grade parent called to brag on Mrs. Weatherford and Ms. Mac for the incredible job they’re doing. We love hearing from parents who take the time to share appreciation for our teachers.
So, of course, Mr. Conley went right down to 4th grade to let them know how proud he is! 👏 Great things are happening at AES!

Because the seniors have done a great job completing their FAFSA applications, the FAFSA assistance session scheduled for this evening has been canceled. Thank you to everyone who has already completed this important step! If you still need assistance, please contact Ms. Newbury at the high school office.

Big shoutout to Alto Middle School! Every single AMS student is at school today!

Last night, the Lady Jacket basketball team closed out their season with a big win! 🏀💛 Seniors Angelina and Kenya were recognized alongside their families as they played their final game.
While 12 wins was one short of securing a playoff spot, it marks the most wins in a season for the Lady Jackets in over a decade. That kind of progress matters—the future is bright for Lady Jacket basketball!

AMS StuCo and NJHS are hosting blanket drive until February 19. Boxes are set up in the hallways for donations of gently used or new blankets (throw size is just fine). Please help us assist the Cherokee County Crisis Center who needs these blankets to provide comfort to the children they serve.

Congratulations to the following scholars who achieved success on the TSIA2 assessment, which measures college readiness: Tierani, Makenzie, Brianna, Laila, Sophia, and Nevaeh. We are proud of your hard work!

Today marks four years since we lost Devonte Mumphrey. Though time has passed, his impact has not. On this anniversary, we pause to remember his smile, his love for the game, and the way he showed up for others. We continue to hold his family, friends, teammates, and coaches close to our hearts.🖤💛
