Two more Yellowjackets ready to make their mark!

Alto ISD is excited to welcome Jacob Blankinship for the 2026–2027 school year! Coach Blankinship will serve as the Varsity Girls Head Volleyball Coach, Junior High Girls Basketball Coach, and Assistant Track Coach.
Coach Blankinship joins the Yellowjackets with a wealth of experience, including seven years of coaching at the club volleyball level. His background in developing competitive athletes and his passion for the game will be a tremendous asset as he takes the lead of our volleyball program and works with our junior high and track student athletes.
Jacob and his wife, Virginia, are the proud parents of four children: Captain, Jazz, Ace and Dax. We look forward to the leadership and dedication he brings to our district and the impact he will have on the success of our programs!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms and mother figures in our Alto ISD family! 💐
Our kindergarteners are sending lots of love today with flowers and smiles for the women who cheer them on, wipe their tears, and make every day brighter. Thank you for all you do for our Yellowjackets. 💛🖤

These Yellowjackets are ready to take flight! 🐝

Last week we introduced some new faces to our coaching staff. This week, we’re excited to welcome back a familiar one. Coach Jacolby Whitaker, a 2014 graduate of Alto High School will continue in his role as Head Girls Track Coach while also taking over as Head Girls Basketball Coach. Now entering his 4th year at Alto, Coach Whitaker continues to invest in the same school and community that helped shape him.
Before arriving at Alto, he gained valuable experience as an intern with the Houston Rockets, working in Sports Medicine and Player Development, and later served two years as the Head Athletic Trainer for SFA Men’s Basketball.
Coach Whitaker is eager to build something special with the Lady Jackets.“I am excited to lead this program to becoming one of the most respectable and competitive programs in the area. Our young ladies are very athletic, talented, and love to compete. They are a fun group to coach, and I look forward to the opportunity to coach them on the hardwood next year.”
We’re glad to have you in this new role, Coach Whit! 🖤💛

We are proud of our Alto students who competed in the Cherokee County Welding Contest at Rusk High School today! 🔥
Great job, Daxton, Wade, Alvaro, Erik, Adrian and Miguel. A special congratulations goes to Daxton for earning 3rd Place in the Pipe to Plate Weld competition — especially impressive as an 8th grader! We are proud of all of these students for representing Alto with hard work and skill. 🐝💛🖤

From the halls of Alto to bright futures ahead—way to go!

💰 First grade just wrapped up Financial Literacy Week, and students learned real-world math skills in the most fun ways!
This week, students have been practicing budgeting, adding prices, counting money, and making purchases through hands-on activities. 🛒☕🍽️
At “B&C Grocery,” students took turns being shoppers and cashiers. Shoppers selected items, recorded prices, and paid with coins, while cashiers added up totals and handled transactions.
The First Grade Café gave students the chance to practice taking orders, calculating meal costs, and paying for their food while Mrs. Blackmon and Mrs. Castillo worked hard as the “chefs!”
To wrap up the week, students visited a classroom "coffee" shop where they customized their drinks with extras like whipped cream and sprinkles — for an added cost, of course! 😄
We love seeing our students build confidence with math while learning important life skills through play and collaboration.

Please help us congratulate our AHS Students of the Month: Anthony, Jakiya, LaCailyn, and America! 🎉 We are proud of the hard work, leadership, and positive attitudes these students bring to campus each day.
We also want to recognize our Teacher of the Month, Mr. Jason Davis! Mr. Davis brings enthusiasm, positivity, and great vibes to AHS every single day, and we are thankful for the impact he has on our students and staff. Congratulations to all! 💛🖤

A big thank you to Austin Bank for the fun goody bags for Teacher Appreciation Week! 💛🖤 We appreciate their support of our staff and their investment in our schools and community. Thank you for helping us celebrate our teachers!

The best is yet to come--congrats!

A huge thank you to Lindsey's Lazy L BBQ for treating our entire staff to a delicious lunch! Hilary and her crew are always good to Alto ISD. What many people may not know is that during last month’s evacuation, some of our students and staff had to leave before they were able to eat lunch. We called Hilary, and without hesitation, the Lindsey's crew immediately began putting together meals and delivered them to the evacuation sites.
That kind of kindness, generosity, and willingness to serve others is what community is all about. Thank you, Hilary and the Lindsey's crew, for always showing up for Alto ISD! 💛🖤
