One of the easiest refusal skills to teach a teen? A ready-made exit line:
💬 “I can’t. My parents check up on me.”
Simple, believable, and effective. When teens practice what to say before they're in a tough situation, they're more likely to make safe choices when it counts.

The amazing staff at MyMD Select Nacogdoches has made sure our sixth-grade students are ready for the new school year by providing all of their school supplies! That means families will only need to purchase a backpack and pay the Chromebook insurance fee—everything else is covered.
We are so grateful for these community members who have chosen to invest in our students and help them start the year with everything they need to succeed.
This generous gift was made possible by:

As you prepare for the new school year, we'd like to share a couple of updates to the Alto ISD dress code. The full dress code is available here: https://www.alto.esc7.net/o/aisd/page/student-handbooks-code-of-conduct
*Jeans with holes or tears are now permitted as long as the holes are at fingertip length or below when the student is standing naturally.
*Beginning this school year, students in grades 5-12 may not wear leggings or yoga pants as standalone pants. They may still be worn under dresses, skirts, or other appropriate clothing.
Thank you for your support as we work to maintain a positive, respectful learning environment for all students. We appreciate your help in ensuring students come to school dressed for success, and we look forward to a great 2026-2027 school year!

🚨 Community Notice 🚨
Alto ISD would like to let our community know that local law enforcement agencies will be conducting training exercises on our campuses July 21-22.
During this time, you may notice an increased presence of police vehicles and other emergency response vehicles on campus. In addition, Alto Middle School will be completely closed to visitors. There is no emergency and no cause for alarm. These training exercises help ensure that our local first responders are prepared to respond quickly and effectively should the need ever arise.
We appreciate the continued partnership between Alto ISD and our local law enforcement agencies as we work together to keep our students, staff, and community safe.

Mrs. Holmes brings a passion for building meaningful relationships with students and helping them grow both academically and personally. While she has taught learners of every age—from kindergarten through adults—she says that "middle school has my heart." She loves the energy of those formative years, sharing that "the big personalities, constant changes, and watching students figure out who they are makes every day an adventure."
Outside of school, Mrs. Holmes enjoys spending time with family and friends, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and, as she puts it, "convincing myself that I definitely have room for one more plant." Mrs. Holmes is excited to become part of the Yellowjacket family and says, "I can't wait to meet the students, families, and staff. Here's to a great year—see y'all soon!"
Welcome to Alto ISD, Mrs. Holmes! We are excited to have you on our team! 💛🐝🖤

Ms. Parker brings 20 years of experience teaching reading and is excited to begin a new adventure in Alto as our 3rd Grade Reading teacher. She can't wait to meet her students and share her love of reading while helping them grow into confident, lifelong learners.
This summer, Ms. Parker had the opportunity to return to Alaska, where she attended 3rd grade as a child—a full-circle moment before beginning this new chapter teaching 3rd graders in Alto! We are thrilled to have Ms. Parker join the Yellowjacket family and look forward to the knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm she will bring to our students.

Ms. Jones brings 10 years of experience in education, including the past six years with Nacogdoches Independent School District, along with previous teaching experience in private schools. She holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. In addition to her work in education, Ms. Jones is a self-published children’s book author and the founder of Mustard Seed Microschool, an organization focused on creating faith-based, nature-centered, hands-on learning experiences for children through camps and enrichment opportunities.
Above all, Ms. Jones is the proud mother of three children—Kennedy, KJ, and Kendrix Dee—who inspire her every day and motivate her to continue growing as an educator and leader. She is thrilled to return to her alma mater and looks forward to serving the students, families, and staff of Alto ISD. 🖤💛

We're grateful to be able to share our school track with the Alto community! As a friendly reminder, pets are not allowed on the track.
This helps us keep the track clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone who uses it!

As many of you know, the Alto ISD app is your one-stop place for district news, live feeds, events, calendars, cafeteria menus, and more.
Beginning in August, we'll also be using the app to send school and district communications—similar to how we previously used Remind. Since Remind is no longer available, the Alto ISD app will become our primary communication tool.
If you haven't already, now is a great time to download the Alto ISD app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store so you're ready to receive important updates when school begins.
We look forward to keeping you informed all year long!

Mrs. Crawford brings a decade of experience in education, having taught students from Pre-K through high school. Throughout her career, she has taught English, History, and Media, while also serving as both a junior high and high school coach.
Mrs. Crawford earned her bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2011. Outside of education, she is a business owner and the proud mother of four daughters. We are excited to have Mrs. Crawford join the Yellowjacket family and know she will be a tremendous asset to our students, staff, and community. Welcome to Alto ISD! 💛🖤

We are especially grateful to Morgan Nickle and the Brookshire Brothers Pharmacy team for organizing and leading this wonderful effort. We are blessed with incredible community partners who continually step up to support our students and families.

It may seem a little early, but we've had several people asking, so we wanted to go ahead and share them. If you're not quite ready to think about back-to-school yet, feel free to ignore this post—we'll be sure to share the lists again in a few weeks! 😊
