On June 20, 2025, the Governor of Texas signed Senate Bill 12 (SB 12) into law. Beginning September 1, 2025, all Texas public school districts must have parental consent on file before providing students with any routine physical or health services.
This means that before school staff such as nurses or counselors can provide even simple care—like placing a bandage on a scrape, giving an over-the-counter medication, or assisting a student who is upset—we must have a signed consent form from a parent or guardian.
Consent forms will be sent home with students tomorrow. If the form is not completed and returned by September 1, 2025, school staff will not be able to provide your child with routine physical or mental health services. The only exception is in the event of an emergency requiring life-saving care.
We appreciate your prompt attention to this important change. Thank you for helping us keep your child safe and supported at school!

We’re excited to share this year’s first Students of the Week at Alto Elementary! Each week, we’ll recognize students who go above and beyond, showing hard work, respect, and a positive attitude.
Our Students of the Week will:
✨ Have their picture shared on social media
✨ Sign their name on the Hard Work & Respect Wall
✨ Call home to share the exciting news with their family
We are so proud of these Jackets who set a great example for their classmates! 💛🐝
This week, we’re also excited to recognize Ms. Jackson as our AES Staff Member of the Week! Mrs. Jackson may be new to our district, but she jumped right in, ready to make a difference for our students. We’re so glad she’s part of the Jacket family!

Join us on Tuesday, October 7 for a fun and family-friendly evening with our community!
The Alto Police Department is excited to host National Night Out, a nationwide event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
If you would like to volunteer with activities or donate to support the event, please contact APD at (936) 858-2221.

Members of Alto FFA recently trained our fourth graders on how to properly raise and lower the flags at Alto Elementary. We’re proud of these students for learning this important responsibility and grateful to our FFA members for taking the time to teach them!

Parents and Guardians of Alto ISD Students,
The Texas Legislature recently completed the 89th Regular Session, which included several updates to Texas education laws. One of the most significant changes involves student discipline under House Bill 6 (HB 6).
To help families understand these changes, the state has created a graphic highlighting the key updates, which we’ve included below. Paper copies will be sent home with progress reports. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s campus administration.

Grandparents and grandfriends--please join your elementary students for lunch to celebrate Grandparents' Day! To submit information for your visitor badge, please fill out the form linked below or at the QR code. There will be a visitor check-in table at the cafeteria doors.

📄 Order forms will be sent home with students this week.
A big thank you to M&M Photography for giving back to our school—part of the proceeds will be donated to the Alto Elementary PTO! 💛🖤

Each year, the Texas Education Agency issues accountability ratings that measure how well schools are helping students learn, grow, and prepare for the future. These ratings are based on factors like academic achievement, student progress from year to year, and how well schools are closing learning gaps.
Visit TXschools.gov to see the rating for your child’s campus and explore details about how each school is preparing students for the next grade level — and for success after high school.
